Kate Middleton returns to the St. Patrick’s Day parade after battling cancer

“Colonel Catherine” is back.

Kate Middleton attended the annual St. Patrick's Day parade of Irish security guards on March 17th at Wellington Barracks in London. The Princess of Wales missed the queue in 2024 as Kensington Palace had recovered from what she described as a “planned abdominal surgery.” On March 22 of that year, the 43-year-old announced that she had contracted cancer.

This year, sparkling Kate was found leading the parade and taking part in the day's traditions. She was salute, inspected the front ranks, handed out shamrocks, and raised pints of Guinness.

This year marks the first time the 43-year-old has attended a festival of roles as Irish security officers without her husband Prince William. People Magazine It has been reported. According to the outlet, the princess took over the role of Irish security colonel from William in 2022. That year, King Charles III rose to the throne after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The prince had been a colonel of Ireland's security guard since 2011. That year he wore the unit's scarlet tunic uniform when he married Kate.

The Princess got her first solo military engagement as a senior member of the royal family when she intervened with William at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in 2012. That day she handed out Shamrocks to the soldiers and met with the soldiers.

According to the outlet, William and Kate didn't spend St. Patrick's Day with Irish guards in 2020, as most of the regiment was deployed overseas. In 2021, the celebrations were reduced due to the coronavirus pandemic. The couple returned from the royal family in 2022.

In September, Kate announced that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment.

“At the end of summer, we can't tell you what a relief it would be to have finally completed chemotherapy treatment,” she wrote. “The last nine months have been very tough for us as a family. As you know, it could change quickly and we had to find a way to navigate the waters and roads of the storm.”

“The cancer journey is complicated, frightening, and unpredictable, especially for those closest to you,” she shared.

“With humility, it meets your own vulnerability in a way you've never thought of before, and that gives you a new perspective on everything. This time, it reminds me that William and I reflect and appreciate the simple yet important things in life.

“I've finished chemotherapy, but the path to healing and full recovery is long and I have to continue every day to make it come,” the princess continued. “But I look forward to going back to work and taking on some more general involvement in the coming months as much as possible.

“William and I are so grateful for the support we received from all the people who are helping us at this point. Everyone was really humbled. For everyone who continues their own cancer journey – I will be lined up with you, in hand, from the darkness, brightening up.

On January 14th, it was revealed that she was in remission.

“It's safe to be in remission now and I'm still focused on recovery,” she shared at the time on social media. “As anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis knows, it takes time to adapt to the new normal. But I look forward to the fulfilling year ahead. I look forward to it. Thank you for your continued support.”

For the New Year, Kate returned to royal duties with all his might.

British broadcaster Jonathan Saccardoty previously told Fox News Digital that the princess will continue to prioritize her health and her family.

“Now she's cancer-free, so her next step will include a balance between staying healthy and resuming royal duties,” he said.

Sakerdoti said “we will continue to focus on causes such as mental health and child development.”
