Authorities say that a deputy for Sheriff San Bernardino was killed in a violent crash on Monday, and the patrol vehicle was split into two amid alleged car burglars.
Reports say the married father of two Hector Kuevas Jr., 36, was declared dead in a horrifying scene after hitting a third car and slamming the car onto a light pole.
Sheriff Shannon Dikas said that Quebus was “the type of law enforcement officer who wants to be all of us.”
“Hector was told by his law enforcement partner that he was a cop officer with the ability to be able to deal with and talk to the kids with the most hardcore gang members,” Dikas said. During a press conference.
Deputies caught the wind from the stolen vehicle and tried to pull it around 11am, but the driver, identified as 22-year-old Ryan Turner, refusing to stop the vehicle, causing a ferocious pursuit involving at least two police cruisers. The Sheriff's Office said.
Turner parked the car and fled on foot before chasing him and being arrested.
While drunk, he faces charges of vehicle manslaughter, avoiding peace officers and is expected to cause death or serious injuries, top officers said.
Deicas said further information about the situation leading up to the crash fall will be revealed following the investigation.

The female driver behind the wheels of the third car involved suffered a life-threatening injury, Dikas said.
Quebus was survived by his wife, two children, parents and siblings.
Authorities are expected to require Turner to be denied bail during a subsequent court hearing.
