Braves sign Craig Kimbrel on minor league contract

Craig Kimbrel is back.

Braves and Kimbrel agreed to a minor league deal, and according to multiple reports, they have brought right-handed people back into the organization.

If he reaches the major leagues, the deal pays him $2 million, Reported by ESPN's Jeff Passan.

According to ESPN, the Braves' plan is to move to join the Atlantable Pen after Kimbrel rises over the course of weeks.

Kimbrell, 36, spent the past seasons with the Orioles, but has been a free agent since Ballclub released him in late September.

He is scheduled to start with Triple A Gwinnett this season.

The nine-inning All-Star is away from a season he struggled in the second half, allowing .306 batting averages and .978 OPS to opposing batters.

In the third round of the 2008 draft, Kimbrell made his debut during the 2010 season, leading the National League with 46 the following year, winning the 2011 National League Rookie of the Year.

Kimbrel has a 2.59 ERA with 440 saves over a 15-year career.

He won the Braves and Red Sox Reliever of the Year (2014 and 2017) in both the NL and AL, respectively, with eight seasons with over 30 saves.
