Stormzy to receive honorary Cambridge University doctorate | Stormzy

Stormzy was awarded an Honorary Law PhD from Cambridge University to recognize his philanthropy.

The 31-year-old rapper has launched a variety of schemes across sports and the arts, including establishing his marquee book imprints defending Black British writers, and establishing his marquee book imprints and setting up his marquee book imprints with the aim of turning them into “community assets.”

He already has connections with the university and launched the Stormzy Scholarship program in 2018, funding two UK students a year. In 2021, our partnership with HSBC expanded to 12 students per year.

Stormzy's Cambridge PhD is his second honorary degree after receiving “recognizing his outstanding achievements in the field of philanthropy and expanding participation in higher education” from the University of Exeter in 2022.

Also recognized for this year's prestigious Dr. Cambridge was John Latter, a respected British musician, but sacred composer from quite a different realm.

Other honors include American professor Angela Davis, actor Simon Russell Beale, former Supreme Court judge Mary Arden, Nobel Prize-winning economist Oliver Hart, biologist Maria Leptin, Olympic gold medalist rowgi and Katherine Grainger, the chairman of British sports and the Chancellor of the University of Glasgow.

Following Stormzy's victory in the RAP Act category at the Britt Awards earlier this month, the Cambridge PhD is a bright spot for him in the latest news after weeks of bruises in the public eye.

After launching a new advertising partnership with McDonald's in February, his social media was flooded with comments criticizing the campaign. Stormzy was a Palestinian voice supporter, but McDonald is the target of a global boycott over his activities in Israel. In October 2023, Israeli soldiers were given free food.

Stormzy tackled the criticism in a lengthy Instagram post.

He plans to release his fourth studio album later this year.
