David Andrews ‘a little shocked’ by Patriots release after 10 seasons

David Andrews understands, but that doesn't mean he's not disappointed.

The longtime Patriot Center has no longer been the longtime Patriot Center, one of its final connections to the Tom Brady Bill Belichick era after its release last week.

Andrews knew it was a possibility – something he openly admitted to the end of the season availability in the media – but even so, his pink slip caught him off guard.

“You're a bit shocked by that,” Andrew said Wednesday on his “Quick Snap” podcast. “But… I've been so blessed. I've spent 10 years and never been fired. I hope I'll make my own decisions. [Belichick] say? “There is a light at the end of the tunnel and you want it not a train.” I wanted it not a train, and it was a train.

“But like I said, I respect their decision.”

Andrews has played 124 regular season games with the Patriot since 2015, captaining him, winning two Super Bowls. However, he knew that his body began to betray him, grabbing four games last season and opting to have season-ending shoulder surgery.

He could have tried to play through a torn rotator cuff and postpone surgery until the offseason, but he didn't feel he could have helped the team with his shoulders in such a state and could have missed playing at all in 2025.

The 32-year-old wanted an opportunity to show off a new administration featuring head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

“I made it [surgery] The decisions that he knows are possible, especially new staff, come in, said Andrews. [Mayo] If it's there, that might be possible. The soccer team must make decisions they think are the best. ”

The Patriots moved by signing former Viking Center Garrett Bradbury to a two-year, $12 million deal.

Andrews is not sure what to do next, nor has he announced his retirement or announcing his intention to continue his 10th NFL season with another team.

“I still love the organization, I still love the community. We're still here,” Andrews said of New England. “We don't have any plans to make any drastic moves right now, depending on the situation. We're home now.”
