Johnson faces complicated path amid push to impeach Judge Boasberg

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is facing an unwieldy path forward as President Trump and Elon Musk push each of the judges' bullets publicly and permanently – the flight to carry Venezuelan immigrants.

Trump sparked a controversial campaign this week when he said district judge James Boasberg, called “troublemakers and agitators,” should each. Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) quickly listened to the president's call and accused the ammo each article on Boasburg with “power abuse.”

Certainly, there is virtually no chance of a push being successful. A large majority of home moderates questioned the idea and required a huge majority (67 votes) to approve the efforts in the Senate. At least 14 Democrats must join all Republicans to support their conviction.

But if Trump and Musk push forward the bluff each procedure and lawmakers force the vote to legislatively, Johnson will be pushed into the corner and weigh the importance of easing the president from protecting him from politically difficult votes.

The speaker walks carefully along that thin line by his side. A Johnson spokesperson told Hill this week that the top lawmakers are looking forward to working with the Judiciary Committee to consider all the options available under the Constitution to address this urgent issue.

“Activist judges with political agenda pose a major threat to the rule of law, equal justice and separation of power,” the spokesman added.

Meanwhile, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) was more direct. Longtime conservatives said when asked by CNN's Kasie Hunt on Wednesday if Obama's appointee Boasberg should be bounced each, “all options are still on the table.”

“Well, as Chief Roberts pointed out, the remedy for a bad decision is usually the Court of Appeals. But I might have something a little different here,” Jordan said. “This judge's decision was so ridiculous. It seems political.”

“There may be a judge acting politically here. That's another question,” he added. “And for our Republicans and I, for the people on the Judiciary Committee, all the options are still on the table. We do some research, we dig into this.

If his committee were to hold a hearing for each, Jordan replied, “It's all on the table, it's considering all the options.”

If the House finally advances with a bounce each vote, Johnson will face a difficult fight to win it at the finish line. With a majority of Slim House GOP, the speaker needs almost indifference to his rank – and some lawmakers have already cast doubt.

“They should not each judge because they make decisions we disagree with,” MP Dusty Johnson (Rs.D.), the self-proclaimed Pragmatic Main Street Caucus chairperson, told Hill. “The remedy for bad decisions is to overturn them with an appeal.”

Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.), representing the purple district, heard a similar note and said, “We have it.” [a] A 236-year tradition of respecting judge decisions or using the appeal process. ”

“This is part of the separation of power in the constitution, part of checks and balance. I don't want to undermine this,” he added. “If the president is in the right position, he will win the appeal.”

“Dozens of Republicans have expressed reservations on this approach behind the scenes,” one House GOP source said.

Boasberg appeared as a boogeyman in the GOP circle over the weekend, blocking the Trump administration from invoking the alien enemy law (the 1798 law), and quickly deporting Venezuelan immigrants, who the White House is said to be a member of the gang. He ordered the government to halt or spin flights carrying migrants.

Boasberg is now requesting that the administration hand over information about the deportation flight that left the US on Saturday and determine whether they violated his orders. The Justice Department argued that the conduct was in compliance with the decision as the flight had already departed from US airspace when the written order was issued.

Trump shook Boasberg on Tuesday, labeling him “the fundamental left-hand man of the judge” and sought his expulsion.

“This judge should be bounced each like many bent judges I'm forced to appear before!!! We don't want vicious, violent, perceived criminals, many of them confused killers in our country. Trump wrote The true society.

New York TimesOn Wednesday, Musk reported that he donated the largest legal amount he could have to a campaign of seven Republicans who approved the Judicial Wreck Each, or a campaign of seven Republicans who called for action in response to a ruling against the Trump administration.

“Judge Boasberg deliberately and deliberately used his judicial position to advance political interests while violating his oath of duty, obstructing the president's constitutional privileges and enforcement of the law,” the resolution reads.

According to only 15 federal judges have been fired each Federal Judicial Centerrecently US District Judge G. Thomas Porteus Jr., for the Eastern District of Louisiana, was fired for accepting bribes under the punishment of a perjury and making false statements.

It remains unclear whether one of the five gil or resolution cosponsors plans to privilege measures that require leadership to measure this measure. If someone takes that route, Johnson could move to refer the resolution to the Judiciary Committee – overseeing the bluff each – or move the measure to the table and effectively kill it.

For example, in June 2023, under then Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif), the House voted to present the Judicial and Homeland Security Committee with an article on then-President Biden.

But even that path may not be ideal for Republicans who don't think that the bluff each is the right course of action for the current situation.

“I hate when a judge in the Partisan District Court made the system gum with a ruling that is sure to be overturned,” a moderate House Republican who called for anonymity to discuss the topic told Hill. “Both judges do that and it has to stop. Congress should stop it. I don't know if the bullet each is the correct answer.”

Meanwhile, Republicans are looking to make a perch effort against other judges who opposed the Trump administration. Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Ariz.) presented an article on the perk each against US district judge Paul Engelmayer, whose Musk and his government efficiency (DOGE) blocked access to the Treasury payment system.

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) introduced an article on U.S. District Judge John Bates. John Bates ordered federal health agencies to restore the online dataset after signing an executive order that bars Trump from promoting “gender ideology.”

Jordan, who heads the committee overseeing each, says that, if not each, there could be “another legislative relief” to push back the judges who elicited their rage, if not the one, and refers to an order in which district court judges file an order issue a decision to provide damage relief that affects the outside of the district.

The House Judiciary Committee advanced the law earlier this month.

“We went through that to the committee,” Jordan said on CNN. “We'll try to hand it over to the floor of our house and get it to go into the process.”
