Rep. Tim Barchett (R-Tenn.) called on the government to clarify what taxpayer money will be spent in relation to the Unidentified Aviation Phenomena (UAP) amid an increase in calls from lawmakers to increase transparency in the issue.
“They're spending tens of millions of dollars on this subject, and they're turning around and saying they don't exist,” the Tennessee Republican told News Nation's Blake Berman on “The Hill” on Friday.
Burchett highlighted the need for increased government transparency on extraterrestrial life, discussing the recent employment of former intelligence agent and UFO whistleblower David Grusch by Rep. Burrison (R-Mo.).
“I think he'll help us ask questions that we may not be asking the right questions, that we need to ask, that we need to ask,” Burchet said of Grush.
“I want to know what they're spending money,” he later added.
The UAPS topic has attracted a lot of attention from Congress in recent years, with 2024 and 2023 parliamentary hearings digging deep into whether the government department withholds evidence from lawmakers.
“They need to disclose everything and do that now,” Burchet said Friday. “America needs to know. They need to ask for that of an elected official. They're kidding about a little green man and a flying saucer. We're spending tens of millions of dollars on Goddam Knit, what we deserve to know. Please give us some information.”
Grush, an Air Force veteran and a former member of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, made headlines in 2023 after the government withheld information about UFOs and UAP and claimed that it had restored non-human artisans inside.
He was appointed to Burrison's office as Senior Advisor for the first four months. News Nation Report.
