Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) swiped with Rep. Gabe Evans (R-Colo.) at a district rally on Friday, telling his constituents that it was “better.”
“I've heard there are representatives who haven't made a town hall,” Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd at the second stop on his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in Greeley, Colorado.
“You know, you're usually in the first three months of a new job, you're doing your best and working hard,” she continued. “If this is the best you're getting, I think you're even better.”
Ocasio-Cortez followed Slam Evans, along with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) as he voted in favor of the government fundraising bill drafted by the GOP last week.
“Gabe Evans, do you know the guy who hasn't appeared? Maybe it's because he voted to cut Medicaid,” she said.
An analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office found that the GOP plan could not be reached without reducing Medicaid spending.
Evans is one of the many vulnerable homes Republicans who have targeted City Hall by Democrats in recent weeks. Earlier this week, Sen. Michael Bennett (D-Colo.) held City Hall in Greeley.
In a statement in response to Rally, Evans spokesman called Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders “extreme.”
“Democrats may not know what their brand is now, but Rep. Gabe Evans knows him. Rep. Evans is making America's dreams possible for lower costs, safer communities and for all Coloradans.
Evans' team has held more than 300 meetings with voters across the state and said they have conducted 45 news interviews since being sworn in January.
Evans' team also said they did not vote to cut Medicaid. Washington examiners reported earlier this week that the majority of the Democratic rallies were forced to defeat signs targeting Republicans, including Evans, after the National Republican Congressional Committee sent a letter Wednesday to stop and assuming the survivors.
The nonpartisan cooking political report rated it as throwing Colorado's 8th Congressional District.
