The Staten Island teen was allegedly raped dozens of times by a female counselor known as “Bigfoot.”
The victim was now 21 years old and only 17 years old in 2021 when he was sent to the Brookwood Youth Facility about 45 minutes south of Albany. According to the lawsuit, she first met associate psychologist Maya Hayes, who held frequent counseling sessions in her private office.
The sexual abuse began and arrived about three months after the accuser who was withheld by the Post, the lawsuit alleges. It didn't end until he was raped more than 30 times, he claimed.
Hayes, 47, is said to have been “maintained and manipulated.” [the victim] What she was doing was to trust that there was some basis for legal care and treatment. He said in court documents.
Hayes said, “Using and exploiting the status of trust and authority… for her disgusting advantages and her own descent profits…
The staff apparently knew what was going on.
“Are you doing something with your big feet?” the worker asked the teen, according to a filing in Brooklyn federal court. “I see Dr. Hayes doing something troublesome and I meet them,” they allegedly told him.
It is unclear why Hayes was called “Bigfoot.”

Hayes told the teen she dreamed of him, saying, “There was a former man in Brookwood,” who claimed to have resemble the victim and “broke her heart.”
According to the lawsuit, the counselor told the victim's parents to send a $100 payment for cash-up.
New York State Police Hayes was arrested in April. 3rd 65 count criminal conduct and rape. She pleaded not guilty and was released. The case is pending.
The teenager is suing Hayes and 12 other Brookwood staff for unspecified damages for not stopping abuse that they “dead” them.
“When I was in Brookwood, I was sexually assaulted by psychologists for months, but the youth development experts and the administration learned they would stop it and did nothing,” the teen said in a statement.
“The New York state employee knows that sexual abuse is happening and makes it possible,” said Evan Blantyne, a teenage lawyer who represents the four other victims who said he was being abused by Hayes.
Hayes' attorneys did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
