When Dems Had Control ‘They Did Virtually Nothing for Working People’

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Democrats took control of ABC's “this week” Sunday, “effectively did nothing for the workers.”

Partial transcripts as follows:

Carl: So, we've been around 60 days in the Trump era, the second Trump era. How do you rate the Democratic response?

Sanders: Well, I'll bring us back before that, saying that when Democrats were in control of the Senate before Trump was elected, they saddened me that they did virtually nothing for the workers. I have to say that. I am a member of the Democratic Caucus as an independent, so I am not going to lie to you or tell you otherwise.

Carl: Yes.

Sanders: Do you think Democrats have been effective in bringing together the American people and stopping Trump's move towards Olita and authoritarianism since then? no i don't.

Carl: Do you think Trump is right?

Sanders: Yes. In other words, I think cracking down on fentanyl will make the boundary stronger. Look, no one thinks illegal immigration is appropriate, and I happen to think comprehensive immigration reform is necessary, but I don't think it's appropriate for people to meet illegally across borders. So, we need to work on comprehensive immigration reform now. The idea that Trump has doesn't know what his latest numbers are. He wants to deport 20 million people in this undocumented country. Well, you do, you destroy the whole country. Because I got the news for you, so Trump's billionaire friends are not going to choose the California crop that feeds us. They are not going to work in meat stuffing. That's what undocumented people do. So, a variety of programs, guest worker programs are needed, but most require comprehensive immigration reform.
