Jessica Aber death: Family friend of former US attorney reveals insight into sudden death

The body of 43-year-old Jessica D. Abber was found Saturday at a residence in Alexandria, Virginia. Authorities did not release details about her death, but a family friend told Fox News on Sunday that the deceased suffered from a chronic condition.

“Police believe that death is the result of years of medical problems,” the source said.

Alexandria Police Station (APD) wrote on Saturday that he received a call about a “unresponsive woman” around 9:18 a.m.

“As a matter of protocol, an investigation is underway surrounding the circumstances of her death,” the APD statement read. “The Virginia Chief Medical Inspector's office will determine the cause and method of death.”

Abbar served as a US lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2021 to 2025 and was appointed by former President Joe Biden. She resigned from her position on January 20, the same day President Donald Trump took office, calling her role “beyond honor” in her resignation letter.

“I am deeply grateful to Senators Mark Warner and Senator Tim Kane and President Biden for their opportunity to lead this office and to Attorney General Garland for his unwavering leader,” the lawyer wrote. “I am proud of the work I have done with federal, state and local law enforcement partners to enforce the law and build community trust.”

X In a statement posted on Saturday, US Attorney General Pam Bondy expressed her sadness over Abbah's death.

“The loss of Jessica Abber, a former US lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia, is extremely tragic,” writes Bondy. “Our hearts and prayers are directed at her family and friends during this extremely difficult time.”
