Trump accuses protesters at GOP town hall of being paid to show up

President Trump said in Sunday's Truth Social Post that protesters who opposed Rep. Chuck Edwards (RN.C.) at the controversial city hall earlier this month were “radical left madman” paid for the manifesto.

“I saw North Carolina's great Republican Rep. Chuck Edwards host City Hall in Asheville,” Trump wrote in the Post.

“He was a complete gentleman, but the room was “scattered” with radical left madmen. Most were Democrats, and all they did was scream, scream and use dirty words.

The president did not provide evidence that the attendees were Democrats who were paid to appear at city hall. Asheville is known as a liberal enclave in North Carolina, and it's no surprise that registered Democrats will appear at city hall.

Trump defended the work Republicans have done since returning to their oval offices in January.

“As soon as I took office, we did a miracle with zero help from DEMS. We were praised for the work we did, and the Democrats were lightly corned. I also remember you have a Democrat governor who is supposed to do the work Chuck and other Republicans do,” Trump continued in his post.

“Don't be fooled by the infiltrated city hall. That's the only thing Dem knows how to do it. Amazing job Chuck!!”

Edwards faced a swarm of protesters who were angry at his support of Trump and the cuts pushed by Elon Musk's Government Efficiency (DOGE) at his Asheville Town Hall event.

House Republican leaders warned members earlier this month that activists and protesters would derail the incident, claiming that members could instead reach more constituents and voters in live streaming or in teletown halls.

However, Edwards defended his decision to hold an in-person town hall.

“I think it showed people that Republicans can and should endure our position,” Edwards told Hill in a previous interview.

“I went all 12 rounds toe on the left of the progressive, and I think there were a few media vehicles that helped us communicate effectively what we were doing.
