We’ve all been there: we’re sat on the bus and someone bigger, harder and braver takes unlikely and unreciprocated interest in at what we are looking. A question that is easily answered on the facts, but in practice offers no correct reply beyond absorbing pain.

Such is managing head-coaching England’s men. If you lose, you are treated badly, whereas if you win, you are also treated badly – just ask Alf Ramsey.

And games like tonight’s are an intensified version of the same. Draw or lose and it’s the worst embarrassment since that time in reception when you got changed for your first PE lesson and pulled down your pants as well as your trousers (OK, that was me, not Thomas Tuchel); win narrowly and you’re a joyless void who doesn’t know what he’s doing; win well and anyone could’ve done it.

It’s more or less impossible for England not to qualify for the World Cup and, when they get there, chances they’ll be in a group with teams who are vastly inferior. Which means the success of otherwise of Tuchel’s tenure rests on a maximum of four matches – and if he has Gareth Southgate’s luck of the draw, one or two.

That’s a lot for any manager head coach to assimilate, especially when also dealing with the additional stresses of the job: the press, the players, the fans, the suits. Tuchel, though, thinks he can do it and so he should. A strong man-manager with tactical smarts, he won an unlikely Champions League with Chelsea and has also handled Bayern’s backroom and Paris’ petrolheads; similar was not so of Roy Hodgson, nor Sam Allardyce, nor Gareth Southgate.

Yet it was of Fabio Capello. And for that reason, it remains relevant that, when we’re on the bus and someone bigger, harder and braver takes unlikely and unreciprocated interest in at what we are looking, though there is no correct reply beyond absorbing pain, there is a correct response: run away as quickly as your little legs will carry you.

Important Events
6 minutes Poor old Zelenkov, Eash commits with James to 50/50. On the touchline, Tuchel takes his head in a ferocious, incongruous fury.
4 minutes Of course, the problem with Lewis-Skelly's reversal is that HEW isn't necessarily there to help Rashford. This is a problem with blanket defense, especially with wide advancement on the wrong side that wants to move towards the goal. We'll see…
3 minutes It's behind the first ball by Rashford and the first run by Bellingham, but the latter can't keep up with the former. Still, those are the kind of movements that Tuchel would want to see.
1 minute England knocks on it and finds Bowen to the right, then they move it to the left, where Lewis Skelly flips. I know this is not revelation, but he is very good – like Saka, when I first saw him, about 15 minutes later I told myself “player.” I wonder when we'll see him play midfield as a regular?
1 minute I'll go away!
Incidentally, the UK I've never played Latvia, which I had a terrible time in recent years. They are in the Bottom Nations League and ranked under Madagascar, among other things, but defeated Andorra Art over the weekend, winning for the first time in three years.
National anthem time…
Our team is in Tunnel… And here they come!
Tuchel hopes the team already understands what he wants from them, And a better connection between them. He says Rogers is a more offensive option than Jones and hopes he can use his power to penetrate.
James' “absolutely amazing football player” can do everything. He fits, Chelsea manages him, and Walker played well with Albania, but now it's his chance.
Otherwise, he expects a back five and a low block.
“I might read a little more Foden's Missing tonight,” writes Tom Hopkins. “For a long time, the stories around him “have no talent to miss,” and “I came to find the role that best suits him” (I remember, Mark Pougacci making his serious voice to discuss that important issue). With 20 minutes of thrilling with Bellingham/Palmer/Saka, is that a better idea? ”
I've done radio on Mark Pougatch and I can see that a) he looks like a nice guy.
Otherwise, I agree that Tuchel won't be bullied to choose who. I'm interested to see Foden to the left as I can maintain the width while leaving a goal threat, but half of the team moving behind the striker is probably in the past.
ITV shows Rogers, a Bellingham boy since he was a young boy, has really been a great work. He points out that Unai Emery is really good at positions that allow players to show their best self, and when asked why City lets him go, he's honest. “I wasn't enough.”
I don't think that will happen because winning the tournament is about minimizing risk rather than making rice an automatic pick, but at some point in the future I'd like to see Adam Wharton, Bellingham and his midfield 3.
“Chuchel mostly used James as Chelsea's wingback,” he said. I'm writing Gary Stover. “I don't think it's likely here, but will you see him step forward and crucify the box?”
Undoubtedly – it's not only part of the job description, but also part of his skill set. And unlike Alexander Arnold, he has a recovery pace to go back if he gets caught up on top.
“It's kind of pissed that both N'Sleides are on the bench,” says Tom Smith. “It could have been a very goal celebration. Maybe it was a second half?”
I think Sits' performances have been uneven recently.
Email! “I think the question of whether Byrne is the next Maldini is kind of irrelevant,” Kieran McIntosh says.
-
“He's tall, he's really tall.
-
He fights for the badge.
When we have Saka to do the corner, he will really be played in June's qualifying round. He already went very close with Rice last week. As an Arsenal fan, I thought I'd seen enough of Set FC Set FC this season. But with Saka and Byrne, we may just be starting out…”
I like scoring from set pieces – there's no excuse for not being good at doing so – but that might be a bit more needed to win the tournament.
Another person who is desperate for Excel is Reece James. He is the happy medium between Walker and Trent Alexander Arnold. Alexander Arnold is a physical field te with defensive Nous who can score and create, provided that his body does not disappoint. If he's healthy, he's the best right back option in Britain.
Tonight is a big deal for Marcus Rashford. He wasn't very good on Friday nights, but he's proven to this level, always a great sub and makes him a very useful tournament player. Perhaps you think Tuchel likes him, but he doesn't run away with too many poor performances.
I'm looking forward to seeing how Morgan Rodgers is doing tonight. I was a bit confused that Jones was chosen before him for his final game. He, Rice and Bellingham, before we think about firepower, you don't want to face them – you don't want to face them.
Depending on the appearance of things, Bellingham plays a deeper role than tonight. i hope so. Of course, he can play as No. 10, but I think what makes him unique is his ability to play three midfield roles and how he marries skills and vision with power and pace. As is the case, you don't want him to get involved as often as possible and decorate the game, you want him to dominate the game. I also think he fills the gap Rice has left. Its energy and desires are top-notch, but pressure to be at top-level 6 or attacking enough to be at top-level 8 is not enough.
I'm not too surprised that the players missed it. Walker will not be a starter in the next tournament. Byrne is a nice story, but does he say he's really good despite the limited competition? Jones is a good player, but are you saying he's good enough because the competition is stiff? And since Foden has played very rarely well for England, it makes sense to give another kind of player a chance.
Tuchel will make four changes to the side that beat Albania on Friday night. We'll be out Walker, Byrne, Jones and Foden. James, Gahee, Rogers and Bowen come.
I'll write these down, Next, we ponder what things look like.
team!
England (4-3-3): Pickford; James, Consa, Gehi, Lewis Skelly. Rice, Rogers, Bellingham; Bowen, Kane, Rashford. submarine: Walker, Foden, Henderson J, Byrne, Henderson D, Colwill, Ez, Jones, Gibbswhite, Solanke, Quansa, and Trafford.
Latvia (5-4-1): Zviedris; Savalnieks, Jurkovskis, Cernomordijs, Balodis, Ciganiks; Jaunzems, Saveljevs, Zelenkovs, Ikaunieks, Gutkovskis. submarine: Ozol, Matrevik, Jagodinsky, Threid, Izaev, Daskeviks, Vapne, Sitting, Chloris, Melnik, Tonysev.

preamble
We were all there. We sit on the bus and the bigger, stiffer, brave people have an unlikely and unreproduced interest in what we see. It's a simple question about the facts, but in reality it doesn't provide a correct reply other than absorbing the pain.
That's what it is like management Head Coaching England subordinate. If you lose, you will be treated badly, but if you win, you will be treated badly too – ask Alf Ramsey.
And a game like Tonight is an enhanced version of the same thing. It's the worst embarrassment since the time of reception when drawing or losing, changed for the first PE lesson and pulled down the pants and pants (OK, it was me, not Thomas Touchel). Win narrowly, you're a joyless blank that doesn't know what he's doing. He won well and anyone could have done that.
It is more or less impossible for the UK to not qualify for the World Cup, and once they get there they could be with a very inferior team. In other words, Tuchel's success in tenure depends on up to four games.
That's a lot for everything manager Especially when dealing with the additional stress of jobs, or the media, players, fans, suits. But Tuchel thinks he can do it, so he should. A powerful manager with tactical smarts, he won the unlikely Champions League at Chelsea, dealing with Bayern's backroom and Paris' Petrolhead. None of Roy Hodgson, Sam Aladdis and Gareth Southgate like that.
But it belonged to Fabio Capello. And so, when we are on a bus and have an unlikely, unreproduced interest in what we are looking for, there is no correct response beyond absorbing the pain, but no correct response.
