Six people have died and nine were injured when tourist dives sunk from Egypt's coast on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
All the victims were Russian and were among the 45 passengers on a tourist submarine, state officials said, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to speak to the media.
The sinking took place at one of the beaches in the tourist promenade area at Hurghada's Red Sea resort, where 29 people were rescued.
A Russian consular official in Hurghada said there were minors on board the submarine, according to the Associated Press. It is unknown how many crew members were on the submarine.

Sub belonged to the Sinbad Hotel in Hagada. It took off on a regularly scheduled tour to see the reefs around 10am on Thursday, leaving us less than half a mile from the coast.
Operated by a Hurghada-based company called Sindbad Submarines, the vessel had 44 passenger seats for each passenger, two pilot seats, and a round viewing window for each passenger, according to the company's website.

According to the Russian Consulate, those rescued were taken to hospitals and in stable condition.
The cause of the submarine sinking is yet to be known.

In November, tourist yachts sank into the Red Sea after a rough sea warning, Egyptian officials said. At least four people have owned and 33 have been rescued. Some people went missing after the sunk. Two American tourists were on board.
Tourism is an important sector of Egypt's economy, but many tourists have suspended or restricted travel in the Red Sea due to risks from conflict in the region.
