The Department of Health and Human Services is reducing its workforce by 10,000 employees.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced on Thursday that it is laying off 10,000 full-time employees across the agency, according to the department’s statement to CNN.

This is in addition to the 10,000 employees who left voluntarily, resulting in a workforce reduction of approximately 25%.
This will lower the department’s total to 62,000 full-time employees, factoring in voluntary departures.
The restructuring, combined with prior voluntary departures, will decrease the total from 82,000 to 62,000 full-time employees.
“We are not merely cutting bureaucratic excess; we are realigning our organization with our primary mission and addressing new priorities to combat the chronic disease epidemic,” said RFK Jr.
