Hearing on NTSB Report on D.C. Midair Collision

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee is holding a hearing in January to consider a preliminary report from the National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB) on airborne collisions over Washington, DC.

On the evening of January 29th, an Army Black Hawk helicopter collided with American Airlines 5342 near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, killing everything in both vehicles.

“The airborne collision at the DCA is a tragedy that saddens the families of 67 souls, and investigation into the cause of the accident will continue until we know exactly what went wrong on the evening of January 29th,” said committee chair Ted Cruz. “Because we have full jurisdiction over the national airspace, the Commerce Committee is obliged to support these families and do everything to do with Congress.
