President Donald Trump has asked New York GOP president Elise Stefanik to withdraw his appointment to serve as the United Nations (UN).

The White House confirmed reports that were circulating in the media early on Thursday afternoon when Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman James E. Lisch (R-Idaho) notified that Stefanik's nomination had been withdrawn.
