President Donald Trump has appointed King Brent Bozell III, founder of the conservative watchdog group Media Research Centre, as a candidate for US ambassador to South Africa.
In a post about Truth Society, Trump shared that he is nominating Bozell for his ambassador.
“We are pleased to announce that Brent Bozell will become South Africa's next US ambassador,” he writes.
“Brent is the founder of the Media Research Center, which has exposed fake news hypocrites for many years. Brent brings fearless tenacity, extraordinary experience and vast knowledge to a country that desperately needs it. Congratulations, Brent!” Trump added.
Bozell thanked Trump in a social media post Thursday.
“I am honored to be appointed to be South Africa's next US ambassador,” he wrote. “Thank you, President!”
Bozell is writing exclusive Op-Eds for Breitbart News and joined Sirius XM's in June Breitbart News Daily He was sentenced to 45 months in prison for an exclusive interview after his son revealed he had entered the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Bozell said former President Joe Biden's DOJ tried to accus his son of “strengthening terrorism” in addition to his conviction of accusations that included assaulting an officer. Bozell said the judge could not determine whether his son touched the officer based on video evidence.
However, after the conviction, “On the eve of the conviction against the sentencing of officers, obstruction, two windows and all other consequential charges, they attacked him with the most incredible charges imaginable,” Bozel said.
“They claim that what he did was an act of terrorism… This man – the father of this man of three who have no criminal history higher than a traffic violation should now be identified with Osama bin Laden. The judge refused to accept it. They argued and insisted it. In a footnote, he caught the price of a broken window.
“Breaking two windows – one of them is a misdemeanor, one of them is a felony, in a fair system, he has no criminal history, so he will be charged with someone else being charged – because he has no criminal history,” he said.
Trump eventually forgives Bozel's son hill Note.
Bozell's nomination comes when the Trump administration expelled South African ambassador Ebrahim Lasor from the country earlier this month after Trump's administration claimed he was leading the white supremacist movement. Secretary of State Marco Rubio tweeted a Breitbart news article about Rasool's comments to announce that he is considered Persona Non Grata.
