“Then you just have to stop paying every month. The palace will harass you for several months via email, phone or even WhatsApp, but it's very important that you don't respond to any of these. It takes about three to four months and then it will stop.”

Akeo's family lawyer, John Manley, told ABC News that the couple was “snatched by this timeshare,” and did what they could to keep up with payments.

“It was a reasonable amount for a month initially, but as we were told, they removed their profits and essentially increased their monthly contribution to $6,200 a month,” Manly said.

“But in exchange they could have sold to more people, so they could have sold several weeks of their timeshare so that people could use them.”

“What started to happen is that the palace just started canceling reservations. So essentially, they are paying $6,200 a month, without having to make a promise and not allowing them to sell the week they have defaulted or violated.”

However, we alleges that arrests are legal and have been “verified” by the International Police Agency, Interpol.

“Mexican prosecutors have obtained a court-approved arrest warrant following a failed attempt to review the evidence and provide notice. Interpol has verified the case, leading to Achaos detention at Cancun Airport on March 4, 2025,” the company said.

“Since then, the judge has determined that the case has sufficient reason to proceed to trial and has ordered AKEOS to be detained.”

Christie's daughter, Lindsay Hull, claims the company has “requested” $250,000 and has signed a private agreement “that does not guarantee their release.”

“If that's not enough, they also requested publicly apologise from my mother and Paul for being made to the palace company. I'm absolutely sick of it,” she said.
