Congress must ensure that only US citizens are voting in federal elections, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) said. Breitbart News Dailyannounced this year that he is introducing a “beef up” version of the American Voter Qualifications (SAVE) Act.
Host Mike Slater asked Lee about his save.
“We spoke [Rep.] Tip [Roy] “A few times about that, President Trump signed his executive order yesterday, and he is seeking evidence of citizenship,” Slater said.
“Great. Voter ID. Great. Vote one day and a paper vote. Do you agree to all four of these? And do Congress need to be involved in doing these? Will all four of these happen?” he asked.
“Yes, yes, I agree to all four of those policies,” replied Lee. “I think we need that. That's one of the reasons we introduced the Save Act in the Senate last year, along with Chip Roy, my counterpart sponsor at home.”
He said this year they are introducing a “beef up” version of the Save Act.
“But in conclusion, we had to ensure that the people who vote in the United States are actually US citizens and are existing federal laws interpreted by the Supreme Court for a variety of reasons.
“And I believe this is likely to require the law to stick,” he added.
