Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Human and his estranged wife Asa Elupp are suspected, her lawyer said Friday.
“We have finalized all divorce documents filed in court last night,” Ellap's attorney Robert Macedonio said outside of Suffolk County court.
“She has to worry about protecting her two children with the possibility that he will never be leaving prison,” he said without revealing other details of the settlement.
Ellup filed for divorce shortly after Manhattan architects and Massapequa Park on Long Island were first arrested in July 2023 for the murder of three women, Melissa Barcelemy, Amber Costello and Megan Waterman.
He was later accused of killing four more women: Maureen Braind Burns, Valerie Mack, Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla.
The judge now has to consider a divorce settlement and sign off to make the division official.
On Friday, the lawyer for the suspected murderer was in court to ask a judge to throw evidence of DNA recovered from six of the seven victim hairs.
Hair belonging to Elap and her daughter Victoria was discovered by some of the victims. So, Elap is “interested” in that he “determined she was her,” Macedonio told the Post.
“She has had difficult times throughout this whole process, believing that her husband has been married for 29 years and can commit these horrible acts,” he added.
Heuermann pleaded not guilty and his trial date has not yet been set.
