Now it's a hole-in-one celebration.
The Texas A&M baseball team paid tribute to the ongoing Masters tournament by announcing the Green Jackets celebration for a home run in Thursday's 8-7 victory in 10 innings at South Carolina.
The first basehand break binder-up crushed a grand slam in three innings, giving the Aggies a 6-3 lead before returning to the dugout where his teammates had a green jacket waiting for him.
Those who have won the Master will receive a green jacket for their own efforts.
As he wore the jacket, the binder up lined up for a fake putt, before he and his teammates celebrated the field as long as they lasted.
“Now, in honor of the Masters, he has a green jacket and a golden putter. That's good,” the ESPN announcer emphasized quite a bit.
The Green Jackets reappeared during a post-match interview after Caden Sorrell blasted a walk-off solo home run in 10 innings.
At the announcer's request, Sorrel put on a jacket, gloves, held a golf club, pretended to hit a shot, flipped the putts over and took off his headset as if he had sunk the attempt.
It all became a fun night combining two sports. This is already connected thanks to the MLB Hall of Famerken Griffey Jr. serving as the photographer for the event.
Griffey took a photo for Masters.com this week, capturing a gentle moment between Jordan Spieth and his daughter.
Thursday marked the opening day of Masters' action, with British Justin Rose taking a three-stroke lead on Friday, shooting a 7-under par on the opening 18 holes.
Defending champion Scotty Scheffler is tied to second place after shooting a four-under par, but Rory McIlroy hasn't got any favors in the quest to finish even that day to win his first green jacket.
Scheffler is a betting favorite with Fanduel with +200 odds.
