“I was diagnosed with ALS,” he said. “As I navigate this next chapter, I am grateful that my beloved family is by my side.”

Dane, 52, married an actress, is model Rebecca Gay Heart, and shares two children.

“I can continue working and look forward to returning to the set of happiness next week,” he continued.

“During this time, you should give my family and me privacy.”

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that kills neurons in the brain and spinal cord, causing progressive muscle weakness and atrophy.

ALS leads to a range of symptoms, including difficulty in movement, speech, swallowing, and breathing, often leading to paralysis.

According to the surveyIn 2017, there were 18,000 to 31,000 ALS cases in the United States.

Unfortunately, the disease is not currently cured, and the average life expectancy after diagnosis is around 2-5 years, depending on the age of the individual diagnosed, but some patients can live for decades.

The most common cause of death caused by ALS is respiratory failure. Over time, the muscles that cause breathing become very weak and impossible without assistance.

Other notable stars have been diagnosed with ALS, including Aaran Lazar, John Driskell Hopkins, Eric Stevens, Joe Bonsall, Roberta Flack, Kenneth Mitchell and Stephen Hawking.

Dane is set to return to the “Euphoria” set on April 14thth Play Cal Jacobs.
