Bill Belichick admits to massive Lamar Jackson mistake

Foxboroughthe Faithful was only able to dream.

In his upcoming book, The Art of Winning: My Life in My Life in Football, Bill Belichick reveals his great regret over 24 years as a New England top dog. Two times.

The former Patriot head coach dedicates the entire chapter of his new book to “mistakes.” Among them, among the teams unable to maintain Tom Brady in 2020 due to financial constraints.

But if Belichick is responsible for being handed over to Jackson's star quarterback, he'll also need 30 other head coaches and general managers.

The Baltimore Ravens called him number 32, and the signalling caller was named MVP twice in seven seasons.

In 2017, Belichick's Patriots were fresh from their run to the AFC Championship Game, and were removed for two years from perhaps the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. It's a 34-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Brady soon turned 41, and there was debate about New England looking for a successor. He and Jackson were hosted for a visit before the draft.

Neither was intended. At No. 23, the Patriot chose Georgia's offensive tackle, Isaiah Wynn. Running back Sony Michelle was chosen as No. 31, in line with the Bulldog theme. One pick before Jackson.

Wynn started 50 games in New England from 2019 to 2022, but Michelle has fulfilled his potential and more for at least a while.

In 2018, at the time 23, the rookie ran for 931 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season. In the postseason, he added 336 rushing yards and six more touchdowns towards the Patriots 2018 Super Bowl victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Meanwhile, Jackson spent most of 2018 on the Baltimore bench. He struggled when he replaced Joe Flaco later this year – especially with the loss of a wild card to the Ravens charger, which only completed 14 of his 29 attempts.

That's more than Belichick and the Patriots say.

New England lost in the wild card round in 2019, Brady left ahead of the 2020 season, and the dynasty-depleted patriots finished under .500 in three of the four seasons before the legendary coach broke up with the franchise.

Belichick then took over as North Carolina coach after a year off the sidelines.

Don't expect the head coach to convey the year of middle age after Bloody in “The Art of Winning.” Both “gates” are.

The names “Robert Craft” and “Aaron Hernandez” do not appear on either of the 289 pages, but readers can thank “Idea Mill and Creative Muse, Jordan Hudson” if nothing else.
