US Marshals Track Down Convicted Georgia Killer Who Had Been Mistakenly Released From Jail

The Clayton County District Attorney announced that the convicted murderer who was mistakenly released from the Georgia Jail is currently in custody.

According to district attorney Tasha Mosley, the former US s ran Kathan Guzman to his mother's house in central Florida, and then ran.

Guzman was charged in August 2022 with felony murder, malicious murder, worsening assault and strangled death of his then-girlfriend Delilah Grayson. She was 19 years old at the time.

Prosecutors allege that he strangled Grayson early in the morning of August 7th.th2022, after an hour of discussion. Guzman said Grayson attacked him with a knife and put her in a “sleeping cart” for 10 seconds and said he wasn't going to kill her, according to the District Attorney's Office. However, medical examiners testified that she died when sustained pressure reached her neck for more than 10 seconds.

In 2024 he was convicted of felony murder, worsening his assault and sentenced to life in prison.

March 27ththGuzman was accidentally released after an error in the paperwork.

Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen spoke. Channel 2 News He then said the release was “the result of a failed training session and his workers were not paying attention.”

“I'm not satisfied with this mistake made by an employee in the sheriff's office,” Mosley said. “My staff worked hard to get the justice of the victims' families and make our city safe. We're just disappointed.”
