Safety in the Subways Isn’t Duffy’s Job

New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) said in an interview with NY1’s “Inside City Hall” on Monday that Transport Secretary Sean Duffy “is more interested in subway safety than air safety, to make sure that’s his job and that our sky is safe.” And he “have to focus on his work.”

Hochur said, [relevant remarks begin around 11:40] “I want to know what’s going on. There was a sense that in this new administration in Washington where there was a cut, there was this feeling that we didn’t need government to be there to work for us anymore or work for us. [responsibility]. One of their responsibilities is to keep our sky safe. And that’s not happening. You saw what happened in Washington… crash falls in Potomac, what is happening in New York, there were lots of crash falls on planes[es] And then there was a near miss. ”

She continued, “So, the air traffic controller run by the FAA, we should ask Washington – what’s going on under their clocks, what’s going on under your clocks, he’s more worried about the safety of the subway than the safety of the sky. The pandemic, our numbers are still, we want to focus on his work.
