Top Hegseth advisor placed on administrative leave by Defense Department

The top advisor to the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses was escorted from the Pentagon on Tuesday and took administrative leave, according to a Department of Defense official.

First reported by Reuters Caldwell was on leave for “fraudulent disclosure” of information during an investigation into the Pentagon leak. The official confirmed with Fox News Digital that Reuters’ report was accurate but refused to comment on the ongoing investigation.

Caldwell previously worked in a restraint-oriented think tank defense priority, and was previously an American veteran, a group led by Heggs. The foreign policy pragist argued that the US should dramatically reduce its European footprint and pull out Iraqi and Syrian troops.

Last month, the Department of Defense released an investigation into “recent unauthorized disclosure of national security information,” saying it plans to use polygraphs to determine the cause of the leak.

“The use of polygraphs in the implementation of this study is in compliance with applicable laws and policies.” I wrote it on a note. “This investigation will be launched soon and will reach its peak with a report to the Secretary of Defense.”

He wrote that “information identifying parties responsible for unauthorized disclosure” will be mentioned for criminal prosecution.

Caldwell did not immediately reply to requests for comment.

Caldwell’s intimacy with the Secretary of Defense was highlighted in Houthi Strikes’ unintended leaked signal chat. There, Hegseth appointed him as the Pentagon contact for the attack campaign.
