‘Maybe We Need to Have a Schism’ in the Democratic Party

In a recent broadcast of Politicon’s “Politics War Room,” longtime Democratic strategist James Kerrville suggested that a Democrat split would be necessary for its survival.

Kerrville argued that the far left of the ideological spectrum should form its own political party without Democrat branding.

“[M]aybe we need to have a division,” he said. [parties] – The Justice Party, the Workers’ Family, the Socialist Party. The only thing I ask is not to use the word “democratic” in the title you have. Because most Democrats I know don’t want your name and you don’t want to be part of the deal. Yes, certainly, they’ll be happy to get your vote. Who wouldn’t do it? Everyone wants to get as many votes as possible. Maybe you come up with your own name. ”

“And by the way, I don’t oppose anything – after the election, [we] What you sit and do is done in parliamentary governments and governments around the world,” he continued. And we have these things that we want to you to bring us to you. “And we had negotiations and found a way to live with different parties and different titles under the same general philosophical roof. As I always said, it was very clear – the lounge, most of what the identity wants, 85% of that, I want. ”

“I don’t think we can cooperate with pronoun politics,” Kerrville continued. “If I didn’t tell you how damaging it is in this election, I don’t think there’s anything I can tell you. And you say, “This guy is stuck in another century, not another decade — and he has nothing to do with the future of our movement.” You can’t really hurt my feelings.

“I don’t really understand why I’m worried about having the word ‘Democrat’ in explaining what you’re doing. But we can have a friendly division here, you will follow your path and we will follow our path,” he continued. “And after the election, we’re seeing how much common ground we can find. We know this is heresy. It’s always been. Democrats have always been a coalition. People say they have to work hard in coalition.”
