Serena Williams said she would assume that she took part in Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance at Super Bowl 2025 and shaded her ex-boyfriend, Drake.
Between Interview with “Time” Tennis legend explained that she “absolutely” covered her when she danced to Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” a diss track aimed at Drake on Caesar’s Superdome stage in February.
“It’s definitely not. I’ll never do that,” Williams said. “It was sad. No one thought of it. I respect how they can do it. Obviously, you can see how someone thinks it.
“I’ve never had any negative feelings towards him. We’ve known him for many years.”
Williams’ surprise cameo made waves online.
“I don’t know if I’ll regret it,” she said of her decision to dance. “I don’t know the answer to that.”
Williams explained that his work with Lamar was a long time, a way to pay homage to Compton, California, and that both were born and raised.
“Who would have thought that Compton’s tennis player would be considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time?” she said. “It was just an exclamation point.”
Lamar’s “Not Like Us” name drops Williams and accuss Drake of sexual injustice.
Denied the allegations, Drake sued Universal Music Group, the record company behind the song, for his delinquent loss.
UMG has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
Williams and Drake dated in the 2010s, and he revealed him earlier I wrote his hit song “Too Good” with Rihanna for Williams.
The former No. 1 in the world, Williams retired from tennis in 2022 and won 23 major women’s singles championships in a illustrious career.
