Tehran Uranium Enrichment Is Up for Negotiation – Crude Oil Prices Today | OilPrice.com

Tehran is ready to ease US concerns about nuclear activity, but discarding uranium enrichment is off the table, Foreign Minister Abbas Arakich said he is preparing for this weekend’s second round of talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

Araqchi told reporters after a weekly cabinet meeting in Tehran on April 16th that Iran enrichment is a “real, accepted issue.”

“We are ready to build confidence in response to the potential concerns, but the principle of enrichment cannot be negotiated,” he said.

Araqchi’s comments responded to a statement from special envoy Steve Witkoff on April 15, saying Iran “must stop and eliminate nuclear enrichment and weaponization programs.”

But a few hours ago, Witkov told Fox News that the Donald Trump administration was trying to keep Iran’s uranium enrichment at 3.67%.

“Iran should not own nuclear weapons and should not enrich uranium by more than 3.67%,” Witkov said.

His obvious reversal came after a conservative backlash on social media, which the administration has been accused of being a repackage of the 2015 deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“We praise Witkov’s statement.” I wrote it After Witkoff changed his tone, Mark Wallace, CEO of United Againd Nuclear Iran (Uani).

“It is clear under Trump’s doctrine that Iran must verify its nuclear program or that the US and Israel will do so,” said Wallace, a former US diplomat.

Araqchi, who travels to Moscow on April 17, said Witkoff has made “different comments” since the end of the first round of the speech, but added that Washington’s “real position must be clarified at the negotiation table.”

Trump has made it clear that Iran cannot allow it to acquire nuclear weapons, but has not commented explicitly on whether it involves restraints on Iran’s nuclear program or whether it will completely dismantle it. In the meantime, his administration has sent mixed messages.

Quoting an unnamed US official from the Axios News website on April 16th Attribution Lack of clarity to ongoing internal discussions.

“Iran’s policy is not so clear, mainly because it is still grasped. It’s difficult because it’s a very politically charged issue,” authorities said according to Axios.
