A fatal boat incident occurred in Alabama at a major league fishing tournament on Wednesday morning.
The incident involved multiple boats at Lewis Smith Lake on the second day of the Tackle Warehouse Invitational, which confirmed Major League Fishing (MLF) was a “serious boat accident,” according to WHNT News 19.
Reported by WBMA Three people have now been confirmed to be dead, and three more are injured after the multiboat accident. Alabama law enforcement has identified one of the 58-year-old Joey M. Bloom of Altoona.
The MLF also said the incident was linked to the competitive angler Flint Davis from Leesburg, Georgia.
“To respect those involved and ensure the accuracy of all information, no further details will be made public at this time,” MLF said in a statement. “MLF works closely with law enforcement and emergency personnel, and additional updates will be provided as they have been confirmed by the appropriate authorities.
“Our thoughts, prayers and deepest concern lie with everyone affected by this tragic incident.”
The fishing tournament that was supposed to be held until Thursday has been cancelled.
The Kalman County EMA confirmed that crashing on the lake occurred around 7am near the bottom of the mirror, CBS 42 reported. There was no word on the number of injuries to others involved, or even worse.
Alabama law enforcement is currently investigating the crash.
Davis has one career victory in the MLF, earning 10 top-10 finishes over 63 career events. He is $127,690 in career revenue.
