Former Pentagon top spokesman John Ulittt has resigned from the Department of Defense (DOD) late this week, marking another shakeup in a division where three top aides have been suspended as part of the internal probe.
Urit was the representative assistant to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses until February, when former U.S. Army Airborne Ranger and former religious candidate Sean Parnell was selected as the Pentagon’s chief spokesman.
“I revealed it to my secretary [Pete] Before taking office, I was not interested in anyone in public service to be second place, but I’m happy to be able to stand up to the Pentagon press operations based on acting for two months and speed up when President Trump boards.
“Last month, when that time approached, my secretary and I had a discussion and we couldn’t reach an agreement on another perfect fit for me in DoD, so I let him know today that I’m leaving at the end of this week,” Ullyot said. “It’s an honor to serve with him as a member of President Trump’s team and I will continue to be one of the strongest supporters of my future secretary.”
Senior defense officer I said The Associated Press has asked Ullyot to resign from the post.
Oka reached for DoD for comments.
Ullyot’s departure was escorted from the Pentagon earlier this week as two Hegseth aides and three top DOD officials, deputy secretary of Defense Secretary Steve A. Feinberg, and took administrative leave as part of an investigation into department leaks.
Ullyot was defending DOD as the department removed military webpage scores related to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts. A DOD page dedicated to baseball legend Jackie Robinson was temporarily defeated, prompting a strong backlash in March. Robinson broke the colour barrier of sports in 1947.
Shortly after the article celebrating Robinson was deleted, Urie was sidelined by the Trump administration, Washington Post It has been reported In March.
Ullyot worked in the role of a senior spokesman during the 2016 Trump election. During Trump’s first White House term, he served as the Secretary of Public Affairs for the Bureau of Veterans Affairs and was a spokesman for the National Security Council.
Urit’s departure was first reported by Politico.
