The 15-year-old Long Island boy was furious when his computer was taken away, stabbed his mother, and was dead while the teenager went to the fatal knife grandma more than 35 times, authorities said Thursday.
On the night of April 7th, the teen threw his murderous tantrums at the family’s Selden home, arguing with her 36-year-old mother, Vanessa Cendemi, and her 56-year-old grandmother, Consetta Cendemi.
The mother confronted the teenager about missing classes at school, and the grandma said the boy’s computer should be taken away as punishment, prosecutors said.
The unidentified, violent teenager grabbed a knife and stabbed her first, before stabbing her grandmother, according to the DA’s office.
The injured mother fell to the ground and died, while the still-armed teenager continued to stab her mother more than 35 times in a total before taking off, prosecutors and officers said.
The injured mother went outside and flagged a passing driver, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
The police said when mom called 911 and a good Samaritan stopped and let her in the car.
When officers arrived at the residence at 802 Old Town Road, they found Concetta Chendemi with multiple stab wounds.
She was declared dead at the scene, and Vanessa Cendemi is taken to a local hospital where she continues to recover from her serious injuries.
The teen was arrested later that night and charged with murder, with both attempted murder being attempted with a second degree, officials said.
He was charged with a charge before Judge Karen Kerr on Wednesday and was detained without bail as the case progressed.
He returned to court on May 21, and if he is found guilty at the top count, he can spend 15 years in prison.
“This is a very tragic case of devastation of a family,” Suffolk County District Attorney said in a statement. “When children are said to be violent towards their own family, it creates a layer of trauma that goes far beyond physical injuries. Our office pursues justice for the victims of these horrifying acts.”
