Devils vs. Hurricanes series odds, picks, preview

The Carolina Hurricane is a bigger favorite than the New Jersey Devils in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The wand is -130 to sit on -260 to win the series and win in multiple games.

These odds may hit you a little big considering these are two favorites to win the Eastern Conference for the majority of the season, but there have been a lot of changes at both clubs over the last few months, which has clearly impacted the outlook for the postseason.

Is the betting market underestimating New Jersey’s opportunities in this seven series?

Devils vs Hurricane Betting Preview

The most important thing to be aware of in this series is injuries.

Jack Hughes misses the entire Devils postseason, but Jonas Siegengler is unlikely to play unless New Jersey is running.

Dougie Hamilton has been out of the lineup for several months, but it is doubtful that New Jersey’s No. 1 defensive man will play in the series.

The best case scenario is that the Devils don’t have the best players and top shutdown defenseman in this top seven set.

Carolina has no actual health concerns ahead of Game 1.

New Jersey injuries are not the only ones that make bettors stand out. The devil was mediocre for almost four months.

The Devil is 18-21-4 from Christmas and boasts a -11 goal difference in that range. If that wasn’t a great start, New Jersey will play golf next week.

But here’s the good news. In this series, there is a path to the devil’s success.

The Hurricanes have been a great regular season team for a few years, but have struggled repeatedly to get past the Hump in the spring due to the same issues.

Carolina hasn’t finished talented enough for that rank, and goaltending remains a question mark.

These two issues didn’t bother the cane during the regular season, but as they switched from an 82-game marathon to the top 7 series, the margin of error has been reduced considerably, and the Hurricanes have many difficulties to overcome.

NHL teams never know that they will take just one soft goal or one missed opportunity to change the series than a hurricane.

Devils vs Hurricane Pick

The Hurricanes are the better team in this series. They are healthier than the devil. And they have the advantage of home ice.

However, the Carolina flaws that proved a fatal spring after the spring are still there. And it’s pretty difficult to place a bet on a hurricane at this price because they’re authentic enough.

If Jacob Markstrom could become a different maker, the devil would have more than this upset puncher chance.
