Legendary Spurs head coach Greg Popovich suffered strokes before the game in November and remained away from the team for the rest of the season, but he “stomps” at a steakhouse in San Antonio on Tuesday night, left on a stretcher and was taken away by ambulance. According to TMZ Sports.
The incident reportedly occurred around 8:20pm by Popovich. Popovich said he was “watching and talking” by the time he reached the ambulance, according to TMZ – was in the restaurant for two hours and was labelled “non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses.”
The Spurs announced in early November that Popovich would be out indefinitely due to health issues, revealing that the team suffered a mild stroke later that month before the November 2nd match.
“This has certainly been an unexpected six weeks for my family and me,” Popovich said in a statement released in December. “As we are working with the recovery, I would like to share that the pouring of support we received during this period is truly overwhelming in the best possible way.
“We are grateful for the amazing community, the whole Spurs organization, our family and friends.”
Mitch Johnson was interim head coach for the rest of the season, replacing the franchise staple, which won five titles in the Spurs and three Coach of the Year honors.
