Avalanche vs. Stars NHL playoffs Game 1 odds, prediction

The whole hockey world appears to be spinning a Colorado avalanche to beat the Dallas Star in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

It’s hard to resist the public.

Everything seems to be right for AVS.

They are playing well, making some great additions to the trade deadline, and their captain Gabriel Landescog will be re-entering the lineup at some point in this series. Landeskog has not played since Game 6 of the 2022 Stanley Cup final.

At the same time, everything seems wrong for the stars.

Dallas finished the season with a losing skid and announced that Jason Robertson was injured and that Milo Heskanen was not ready to play in Round 1.

A week ago, the star was priced as a favorite of the Stanley Cup. Currently they are +140 underdogs to win this top 7 series.

Avalanche vs. Stars Game 1 Bet Preview

The odds for this series opened as a coin flip, and Game 1 followed, but it was one-way traffic as AVS gained a ton of support from the betting market.

Colorado wins Game 1 on the road to advance -170, -134.

The Colorado Avalanche is a trendy favorite against the Dallas Star in Round 1. AP

Dallas is a popular pick to win the Stanley Cup before and during the season, and most experts pointed to the depth of this roster as the reason they considered them a candidate.

This depth is tested in a big way in this series.

Robertson has scored 151 goals in the past four seasons, but Heskanen is one of the league’s best defenders.

The only good news for the star is that clever playmaker Tyler Seguin, who is only 33 years old, has returned to the lineup. Seguin, Mikko Rantanen, Wyatt Johnston, Roope Hintz and Matt Duchene will have to do a lot of heavy lifts offensively if Dallas has any hope for this series.

Dallas can feel safe knowing that its forward can at least skate in AVS, but the Blue Line is a real concern.

Without Heikanen, the Blue Line main mission would fall to the combination of Thomas Harley, Esa Lindell, Cody Cesi and Ilya Lubushkin.

Harley is a rising star in this league, but shutting down Nathan McKinnon, Kale McCal and AVS is a massive question from this current Real Guard group.

Avalanche vs. Star Pick

The best hope for the stars in this series is to keep things organized. Dallas will need to remove the pace from the game and turn each contest into a low rock fight for the event.

McKenzie Blackwood has been great for Colorado since joining the team from San Jose, but Oztinger is the side of this goaltending matchup.

I’m hoping Dallas will come out and try to shut this down from the pack drop.

That dedication to defense is on track to go overtime with +320 odds betting on Game 1.
