Citifield fans have already been restless in Juan Soto’s early season slump, but the home crowd cheered the $765 million man towards the plate at 3 base, where the runners traise in one run in five innings on Friday.
Those cheers were louder as Skid Soto ripped a 0-1 changeup to the right field for an RBI single that enters a game against Cardinals starter Miles Micholas.
The single came just after a 24-2 skid that averaged 20 games for Soto on his Mets tenure with three home runs, dropping 20 games to .214, despite being two in the previous four games.
It also followed the controversy earlier this week after the former Yankees slugger told post Mike Puma that he was pitched differently this season without Judge Aaron batting behind him.
“I definitely know how to handle that,” Soto said after moving on 3-3 in a 4-1 card victory on Thursday. “I’ve grown as a man throughout my career. I know things will change. I have to keep shattering.”
