Blues vs. Jets Game 1 NHL playoffs odds, prediction

The Winnipeg Jets were the most consistent team of the season throughout the NHL, winning the presidential trophy with a 56-22-4 record and 116 points.

As the number one seed on the field, the Jets closed out their home ice advantage throughout the playoffs, earning their first round series against the second wildcard team, the St. Louis Blues.

These blues are not your running 8 seeds alone.

St. Louis fired Drew Bannister and replaced it with Jim Montgomery before becoming 35-18-7. The 19-4-2 record in the last 25 games is the highest mark in the entire league in that period.

Winnipeg is still a Chunky-220 favorite to win the series and -180 to win Game 1, but there’s a lot of support for the blues that he gets with the Jets.

Blues vs. Jet Game 1 Bet Preview

It’s no secret how the Jets want to win the game.

Winnipeg has Conor Helebuick, the NHL’s best goaltender, and leaning against him to stabilize the ship, but the Jets are not a one-trick pony.

Winnipeg led the NHL with a power play percentage (29.3), tied with the Dallas Star as the best scoring team at the Western Conference.

The power of such scoring, blended with Hellebuyck’s dominance, was the Jets’ winning recipe all season.

While some skeptics believe Winnipeg’s 5-5 number is not comparable to other elite teams in the playoffs, the presence of Helebuik and this clinical crime is greater than compensated for the great possession statistics, although not of good quality.

Blues vs. Jets Game 1 Pick

Like the Jets, the Blues have lots of scoring punches in the top six, and they have big game goaltenders that they can rely on to keep them in the game.

St. Louis isn’t as deep as Winnipeg, but the margin here is much thinner than most No. 1-8 matchups.

Favorites should lead to Cagey Game 1, as they cannot freely take over the game.

The first game in the Best Seven series is often to feel your opponent.

Backing the first period of this series, we’ll end the Nil-nil at a big price.
