Missouri State’s Todric McGee, 21, dead from possible accidental gunshot wound

Missouri State football player Toddrick McGee passed away early Saturday morning at just 21 years old.

The university announced safety died at the hospital after being injured at a local residence.

The police said Springfield News Reader It found McGee on Friday morning with a “possible gunshot wound of accidental self-harm.”

According to MSU Athletics, an investigation into his death is ongoing.

“On behalf of the university and our entire department, I would like to express my sadness to Toddrick’s family, friends and teammates,” said Patrick Landell, director of athletics at Missouri. “This tragedy has shaken our football program to the heart of it. We want them to know that we are here to support them in every possible way during this extremely difficult time.”

“Our soccer family is shocked and lamented that they have lost Todrick,” said Bears football coach Ryan Beard. “At this point, as we begin the healing process, please respect the privacy of his family and most of our soccer teams. Pray for Todrick and those who loved him.”

The Wichita native, a native of Wichita, Kansas, graduated from Wichita North West High School and was scheduled to enroll in Missouri for his fifth season.

McGee was the Bears’ start safe in both the 2024 and 2023 seasons, and also won all the latter conference honors.

His 2024 season has been shortened after being injured in the fifth game of the year.
