Thousands of individuals convened across the nation on Saturday to voice their dissent against President Trump’s administration and some of its policy proposals.
Lafayette Square, located outside the White House, was filled with protesters in the morning, while similar gatherings occurred near the Washington memorial in New York, Massachusetts, and other states. The displayed signs criticized the conflict in Gaza, significant layoffs, and the deportation of Maryland resident Kilmer Abrego Garcia.
“Donald Trump disregarded a binding order from the US Supreme Court. Let’s put an end to it,” stated group 50501, the protest organization, in a post on Thursday just two days prior to the public protest.
“This is not just a theoretical crisis. It’s not an abstract concern. It’s a crucial moment to affirm that our constitution has been compromised,” they remarked.
The group’s name symbolizes 50 protests across 50 states and a unified movement. The initial event organized by the group took place on President’s Day at various state capitals.
Their message resonated with many who were upset by the White House’s promise not to return Abrego Garcia to the United States from a Salvadoran prison, despite acknowledging that his deportation occurred due to “administrative errors,” violating a 2019 immigration court order. Nevertheless, President Trump and his administration allege that Abrego Garcia has associations with the MS-13 gang and their criminal activities.
“We are in a very precarious time in America concerning freedom,” commented Thomas Basford, who participated in a Massachusetts demonstration along with his partner’s daughter and two grandchildren. Associated Press. “I wished to share with the boys the foundations of this country, but sometimes I must advocate for freedom.”
Others expressed their attendance as a stand against Trump’s leadership.
“He is against the judiciary. He is provoking students. He is disregarding checks and balances,” Boston resident George Bryant told the Associated Press. “This is fascism.”

This was not the first large-scale event on Saturday aimed at opposing the Trump administration. Alongside “Hands Off!” in April, the Tesla Takedown initiative has initiated over 150 protests globally to oppose Elon Musk’s influence in the White House. More than 1,000 cities across all 50 states hosted events, with nearly 400,000 participants.
The White House did not immediately reply to Hill’s request for comments regarding the demonstration but shared a statement online on Saturday related to Abrego Garcia.
“If you are operating like an MS-13, treating a woman like an MS-13, and flouting laws like an MS-13, if he might be an MS-13, then heed the words of wisdom shared on Saturday,” they stated. Posts in the afternoon x.
