Not Legal, Appropriate or Moral to Send U.S. Citizens to Foreign Prisons

Sen. John Kennedy (R-la) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Media” that it is not legal or appropriate for us to send to foreign prisons.

Host Kristen Welker said, “Do you believe President Trump is following court orders now?”

Kennedy said, “Yes. And I don’t think President Trump is against a federal judge. If he does, I’ll call him that. I believe I said in the clip. I love the rule of law. I love it as the devil loves sin. That’s very loud I think if he does, I think he’s wrong.”

“Let me hear about something else. President Trump said this week that he wanted to send homemade criminals, or what would mean US citizens, to a foreign prison like El Salvador,” Welker said.

Kennedy said, “No, not your wife either. It should not be considered appropriate or moral. We have our own laws. We have an eighth amendment to the Constitution. In my judgment, we should not send prisoners abroad.”
