Legendary NBA coach Phil Jackson appears to be not a fan of the game being played on Easter.
Jackson appears to be criticising the league’s decision to host the game on Easter Sunday since 2018 and the decision to host the game on Christmas Day, which became the sports marquee day.
“Again, the NBA will test their faith by playing multiple games at Christmas and Easter… Sacred Days.” Jackson wrote.
It’s not the first time Jackson has criticized the NBA, but it shows he’s still keeping an eye on the league despite claiming he’s no longer seen because he became “political” in 2023.
Appearing on the “Tetragragrammaton With Rick Rubin” podcast in 2023, Jackson criticized the NBA’s decision to embrace social justice messages in the bubble during the 2020 season, calling for a decision to allow players to wear “Wanky” messages of support.
“They even had slogans on the floor and on the baseline,” he said. “It was trying to accommodate the audience or take a certain audience into the game. They didn’t know it was turning off the others. People want to see the sport as apolitical.
“Politics exists from the game. You don’t have to be there.”
Regarding his complaints about the NBA playing on sacred holidays like Christmas and Easter, it’s unlikely that his posts will do much to change the stance of the league and its fans that they keep watching over the holidays.

Also on Sunday, Major League Baseball played the full slate of the game, and the NHL held three playoff games.
Christmas Day was an eyeball battle between the NBA and the NFL.
