Charlie Hull hopes that newly-built Masters champion Rory McIlroy will adjust the noise as he enjoys this much-anticipated victory lap.
The LPGA Tour star, who spoke to US Weekly recently, reflected the epic victory of the Northern Irishman at Augusta National, where he won a career grand slam after 11 years of major droughts.
“At the end of the day, what you say about you, whether it’s good or bad, is irrelevant,” Hal said.
“If you’re doing something good, people should always say bad things about you and try to defeat you because you’re doing well… My famous proverb is, “People’s opinions don’t pay my bills.” So you have to just brush it off with a pinch of salt, do you know what I mean? ”
McIlroy, 35, celebrated her first Green Jacket victory with Stoll and her 4-year-old daughter Poppy last Sunday.
Heartfelt’s embrace at Stoll came less than a year after the five-time major champion filed for divorce after a seven-year marriage in May 2024.
“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is a shame. Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game.” McIlroy said In a statement to the Guardian last June.
“Over the past few weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future is together as a family. Thankfully, we are solving the differences and looking forward to a new beginning.”
A “New Beginning” was on display at Augusta this month, where Stall joined McIlroy as part of a par-3 contest focused on family and friends.
The couple’s daughter won the center stage on April 13th with McIlroy’s victory speech.
“One thing I say to Poppy sitting in her daughter Poppy is that you should never give up your dreams. Never give up on your dreams. Come back and continue working hard.
A few days after the victory, McIlroy was filmed to leave his private jet with Poppy after landing in Northern Ireland.
It remains to be seen whether Stoll and Poppy will be attending next month at Quail Hollow, where McIlroy competes for his second major in the PGA Championship.
He won in 2012 and 2014.
