It’s officially captured Flag.
Duke Superstar Cooper Flag announced its intention to participate in the 2025 NBA Draft via Instagram.
“Duke has always been a dream for me, but I look forward to being able to announce that I will be entering my name in the 2025 draft,” Flag said in the video.
Duke’s social media accounts have added a message to social media: “League Next. Duke Forever. Thank you, Cooper Flag!”
Flag averaging 19.2 points per game, earning 4.2 points with 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists during his freshman season.
The 18-year-old also proved to be an all-round player with 1.4 blocks and 1.4 steel per game.
His team lost to the powerful Houston Cougars team in the Final Four and ultimately to the Florida Gators, who won a national title.
Flag will likely be the No. 1 pick in the draft, with Paolo Banchelo, Zion Williamson, Kyrie Irving, Elton Brand and Art Heyman being the first to be the sixth players in Duke history.
Inadequate playoff teams were challenging the flag at the end of the NBA regular season. The Utah Jazz finished the league’s worst 17-65.
They have a 14% chance of winning the lottery and are entitled to draft valuable prospects.
Utah matches the Washington Wizard and the Charlotte Hornets, and also has a 14% chance to win the lottery, but the Pelicans will have 12.5%.
Brooklyn’s net will be sixth and get the number one pick with a 9% chance of it.
Although Flag was expected to declare for the NBA Draft, there was speculation that if the lottery-winning team is not a preferred destination for Flagg, he would stay at school for another season and collect another NIL payday.
The deadline to withdraw from the NBA Draft and maintain college eligibility is May 28th, but it doesn’t look like a thought in Flag’s mind at this point.
Pinball for the NBA Draft Lottery will be decided on May 12th, with each team’s front office at the edge of their seats.
