Perspective around Justin Thomas’ RBC Heritage win shows how elite of a player he is

Justin Thomas won his 16th career PGA Tour victory at RBC Heritage, winning at Harbortown on Sunday. It took a playoff hole to get there. It was the fifth playoffs on the tour this season, but it added to all the strength.

Interestingly, the event marked the 250th start of Thomas’ career, so a 16 conversion brings the career win rate to 6.4%. It may sound slightly to do that, but this is a professional golf that is extremely difficult to win. Context is required.

Think of Thomas as only 31 (technically for a little longer). Securing his victory 16 made him the 58th player in tour history and he is now tied down to the 54th in terms of victory (Jack Burke, Jr., Ralph Guldahl, Mark O’Meara, Tom Weiskopf).

JT has always been a passionate player who appears to thrive when the lights are brightest. While it can be provided that his Atlanta Drive won his first TGL season, there is clearly a lot of opinion about the league as a whole.

Consider a few other marks compared to Justin Thomas.

As mentioned before, Thomas won the playoffs against Andrew Novak. He is currently 5-2 in the career playoffs. clutch.

Thomas also became the first player to turn an especially 18-hole lead into a victory of the season. He can certainly carry that burden at a large event. Obviously this is not a major, actually a week later, but that’s not easy, this actually sign That event. Incidentally, JT converted five of the 12 possible leads.

Finally, JT held the first round lead at Hilton Head (second) but lost it after the third round. Technically speaking, this means that his victory was ultimately a diversity of existence. Half of his career victory was accompanied by raids from a kind of deficit, but at the most memorable 2022 PGA Championship of its 2022 PGA Championship at one point, not to mention the final five.

The world of golf felt impossible to contextualize following Rory McIlroy’s victory at the Masters, but just a week later Justin Thomas reaffirmed that multiple elite careers can happen in parallel with each other.
