Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) blows up Sen. Don Bacon (R-NE), a former colleague of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), after Bacon attacked Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses in a recent facility media attack.
Bacon latched into the latest batch of founding media attacks that Hegseth claimed to have shared the classified information in signal chat.
The bank attacked Bacon and used the report as a pretense of attacking Trump’s agenda. Hegses attacks what he’s doing at the Department of Defense, while Bacon has often cast a vote in the past to kill Trump’s first American agenda.
“Rep. Bacon was often a decision vote for the House Armed Services Committee to maintain the DEI program in the troops I was fighting for,” Banks said. Posted X. “I’m not surprised he’s against Hegses and President Trump’s efforts.”
The bank shared reports from Kristina Wong of Breitbart News as evidence during the HASC markup of the 2024 defense approval bill.
Don Bacon (R-NE) and Mike Turner (R-OH) voted against two Republican amendments to the defense bill that hampered diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) based on Marxist critical racial theories after being pushed across the US military on Wednesday.
One amendment from Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) would eliminate military “diversity, equity, and inclusion” training, while another would eliminate the position of a secondary inspector from Mark Alford (R-MO) focusing on “diversity, inclusion and inclusion.”
Both revisions failed 30-29 after Bacon and Turner opposed the Democrats.
Bacon – A moderate Republican sitting on a fence from a Trump-friendly nation who often expresses his dissatisfaction with the president has made it clear that he would fire Hegses if he was in charge, but he was careful not to explicitly call for Trump to do so.
“I’m not in the White House, I’m not going to tell the White House how to manage this…but I don’t think I’ll accept that. I said Politics.
Bacon criticized Hegses’ pentagonal administration, acknowledging that there was no full picture of the Pentagon operation.
“There’s a lot of smoke coming out of the Pentagon, but it made me believe there’s a fire somewhere.”
