New reports from Daily wire After rubbing his elbows with Colony Ridge executives, Gov. Greg Abbott revealed he has his hands on creating Colony Ridge, a designated opportunity zone, a Texas development area.
Opportunity Zone The program, created early in President Donald Trump’s first term, will help encourage private funding in low-income areas by providing attractive tax incentives to investors. Five years after initial investment in the opportunity zone, some of the capital gains obtained from the investment may be exempt from taxes. Ten years later, all capital gains are tax-free, Daily Wire explained.
According to documents obtained by Daily Wire through a public information request, Abbott I sent a letter Go to the finance section at the time. On March 21, 2018, Stephen Munichin asked the Treasury to consider designating a census area, including Colony Ridge, as an opportunity zone.
On April 6, 2018, Abbott sent a second letter on the topic, and a third letter by April 10th.
“There is no evidence to suggest that Abbott is aware of Colony Ridge’s business model.”
It happened to be held by Colony Ridge co-owners William “Trey” Harris and State Sen. Brandon Clayton (R). I attended the luncheon At the governor’s mansion on April 4th, about two weeks after Abbott’s first letter, and just two days before his second letter.
Harris and Abbott did not comment on the conversation at the lunchtime. Clayton could only remember the daily Wire’s arguments about the mansion’s “the history of grounds” and “the property and the house itself.”
But by July 2018, the IRS approved it to be considered an opportunity zone just a few weeks after Trey Harris made his first direct donation (which is cool, around $100,000) to fund Abbott’s campaign. His wife, Celeste Harris, had already donated a similar amount on March 19, two days before Abbott sent his first letter.
Trey Harris made several appearances at the governor’s mansion in 2018. He attended the “Summer Kickoff Fiesta” in May and the reception in December.
According to Daily Wire, the Harris donated about $1.5 million to Abbott between 2018 and 2022.
Despite these connections, Abbott denied that Harris alone urged him to defend on behalf of the Census Area in the Colony Ridge area. Similarly, other individuals wanted the opportunity zone tag, spokesman Andrew Mahalleris told Daily Wire.
Additionally, the designation of opportunity zones “did not create” colony ridge development issues, Mahalelis added. “Governor Abbott is safe across the state,” he continued. “Governor Abbott has directed the Texas Environmental Quality Commission to investigate potential environmental issues in Colony Ridge, whether it’s air, water or land.”
Dailywire said “there is no evidence to suggest that Abbott is aware of the Colony Ridge business model, which openly targets immigrant groups.” Still, the development highlights the designation of its opportunity zones (partly brought by Abbott) in multiple ad campaigns.
A representative from Colony Ridge declined to request comment from Daily Wire.

Called the “world’s largest trailer park,” Colony Ridge has made national headlines in recent years after many illegally US residents previously reported complaints about inadequate infrastructure, fetal water, collapsed roads and ramp-stretching crimes.
In February, federal law enforcement attacked the area and captured 118 people suspected or convicted of violent crimes, including murder and child sexual abuse. Many of the arrests were also illegal aliens.
At the time, Abbott Famous News Of the attacks, he and the border emperor Tom Homan claimed they had planned it “for several months.”
Spokesman Andrew Mahalleris showed daily wire that Abbott will continue to support federal, state and local officials in enforcing the law at Colony Ridge.
“These teams will coordinate with the Homeland Security Agency to track and deport thousands of illegal immigrants with aggressive warrants across Texas,” Mahalelis said.
Abbott tried to distance himself from Colony Ridge, but it appears Trey Harris has since withdrawn his financial support.
