President Trump and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre will deliver a statement Thursday afternoon following a White House discussion where the president aims to address the trade conflict.
Støre’s visit follows Trump implementing a 10% basic import tax on nearly all overseas imports and applying increased reciprocal tariffs in various nations. This action has unsettled both the international trading framework and the market.
Norway faced a 15% reciprocal tariff before the president suspended the majority of its 90-day retaliatory tariffs, allowing for negotiations to take place.
The discussion between the two leaders occurs as the Trump administration makes headway in efforts to help resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Støre is a strong advocate for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, including this year’s exchanges between Zelensky and Trump in the Oval Office.
The bilateral meeting is set to commence at 1:05 PM EDT.
