In a mid-April survey released Thursday, 27% of respondents aged 18-29 said they were “better today” than a year ago.

Yet, across all generations, respondents are more likely to say their financial situation is “worst today” than “worst today”.

Those who say it’s even worse include 29% of respondents aged 18-29. 35% of respondents aged 30-44. 36% of respondents aged 45-64. 32% of respondents aged 65 and over.

Additionally, multiple generations report that individual financial situations are “almost the same” as one year ago. 43% of respondents aged 18 to 29. 41% of respondents aged 30 to 44. 43% of respondents aged 45-64. 50% of respondents aged 65 and over.

The survey was conducted between April 11th and 20th, 2025, and included 19,682 adults. The margin for error is 2.2% points.
