The Trump Department has denounced the New York Times for publishing a “sounding tale” about illegal immigration of deported criminals while ignoring the victims.
The department criticized the outlet for publishing such an account about Nascimento Blair, a 44-year-old Jamaican citizen who was removed from the country on February 27th by ICE after being convicted of an invitation.
Thursday, New York Times The outlet has published an extensive story about Blair, whom he claimed to have “rebuild his life and wanted redemption.”
In addition to the lure, the Times reported that Blair was selling marijuana and was accused of asking for money from the lure, “pistol whip” and a teenager who stole some of his supplies. After being convicted of the invitation, the Times said Blair spent time in prison earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and after his release he volunteered to join his community.

The outlet wrote, “For Blair and his supporters, his life story was one of the rehabilitation and was full of qualities that he believes Trump’s deportation planes ignore the massive flow of immigrants.”
Condemning the Times report, DHS Deputy Chief Tricia McLaughlin asked, “Why does the New York Times continue to talk sobs about illegal aliens of crimes and continue to ignore the victims?”
According to Ice’s statement, Blair entered the United States in 2004 and subsequently violated his terms of admission. A year after his arrival, Blair was arrested at the Mount Vernon Police Station on a first-degree invitation. He was convicted of a crime and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The agency said an immigration judge ordered Blair to be removed from the United States on August 4, 2008. However, after the New York State Department of Corrections was released on parole on April 9, 2020, Blair was allowed to remain in the country.

McLaughlin told Fox News Digital that “dangerous foreigners of this crime were released on the streets of New York due to the open border policies of previous administrations.”

“President Trump and Secretary Noem have made it clear that they prioritize arresting and deporting the worst,” McLaughlin said.

“That includes convicted temptants,” she continued, adding, “We are restoring the agreement in the immigration system.”

In response to DHS criticism, a New York Times spokesperson told Fox News Digital that “Blair’s history is at the heart of our report and is clearly explained throughout the story.”
